I hate housework - but like you - I can't quilt comfortably when the house is not in order. How frustrating!

Not at all and I wish I could overlook the house and laundry and just quilt........I guess thats why I don't get much quilting done.
I would like to get several friends together and have a quilting weekend at a motel that has conference rooms.........I know
scrapbookers do it all the time. Just and idea,

Don't get me started on the Flylady thing. Don't get me wrong - every time I started the program I had good intentions. It's just that I've started ssssssooooooooo many times. I do it for a week, then maybe twice a week, then the feeling goes away and I shut off the emails. I just feel like I'm being nagged to death when someone tells me to "put on my shoes", "where's your laundry", "what have you planned for supper," "time to go to bed." Puleeeez.
    I'm 51. If I want to be a slob, it's my choice.

    Shhh. Nobody recognizes me.

yes, call before dropping in! hey! I cleaned my living room!

and here is another thing, I want my house to be "ship shape" before my son comes to visit. Just came from Iraq and want it to be kinda not over run with material and stuff! so I have about 3 weeks to get it done, Haven't seen him in about 9 months, so excited. but other than him and my other sons, well quilting or crocheting is what keeps me going.
there used to be an old saying, but just not able to remember it. Cluttered house. clean mind, something like that. well what you see is what you get! I will make a path and the rest will take care of itself!

I too have trouble quilting until my house is clean. Now as I am older, it takes me longer to clean then before, so I miss out on some quilting time. The old saying "I do what I can in cleaning in three days, what I used to do in one day". But, once I am able to sit and quilt, I get hooked and won't stop for days. Quilting is my peace of heart and soul. Does this make since??

I've tried "FlyLady" a couple of different times and could never stick with it. I like her concepts and ideas, but it just doesn't work for me.

Gosh if there is anything at the sewing machine that can be done that has got to come before the laundry, vacuming, dishes, or beds to be made. No, all that has to wait, the sewing comes first.

I do neglect some housework occassionally but with a big house something has to give. Ok it's the housework that loses.
