Love it...hate using a machine without one.

I have a Brother with the knee pedal and I use it a lot. However, probably once a day it falls out of its socket while I'm using it and scares the daylights out of me. Anyone else have this problem?

Bought a Bernina early this year with the knee lift and I love it. Got my old Viking out yesterday and it don't have the knee lift and every time I went to lift the pressure foot, I was trying to use the knee lift and of corse it wasn't there.

My newer table needs a hold drilled for it and have not had DH do that. I did not use to much to begin with. Something to do with I am a lefty and right knee seems on wrong side. I suppose I could get use to it.

I love my knee lift w/my Janome 11000. It's just so convenient when you're doing a lot of stop and start work and who doesn't do that! I wish I had one on my Viking as well.

I have never been able to get used to it, but it seemed like a good idea in the beginning.

I have tried mine a few times but can't seem to get the hang of it. Like some of you, I sewed for years with the knee pedal. When I got my Horizon and saw it, I though it was a knee pedal(I liked them) but alas it was not. I will continue to try it occasionally but so far, it seems ackward.

You insert it into the slot right below the dial for lowering the feed dogs, then use your right leg to operate it and your left leg for the foot pedal.

Here's a pic and some info for you. Scroll down just a bit to the second picture. The info is just to the left of it.

I have two Berninas, a 730 Record and a 1090 and I use them all the time. Most helpful, especially when appliqueing and using your walking foot while quilting.

Hope this helps,

The knee lift lever is used to raise the presser foot only whenever you wish to pivot or move your fabric, not the needle - it does the same thing you normally do when using your hand to lift up the presser lever behind or next to your presser foot.

Hope this helps,

Have no idea how to use it. When my machine is set in the needle-down position and you stop sewing, the presser foot raises slightly, automatically, so the fabric can be pivoted without taking the my hands off of it. Doesn't the knee-lift do that, basically?
