Mamahouser....I plead ignorance regarding repercussions of 6 vs. 5....my immediate thought was sure, the more the merrier! But then I realized...that will make our quilts bigger right? I really don't like quilts that are bigger than lap size...maximum! However, I would not want anyone to be turned away either! So, I would be willing to drop out to allow another to participate, or.... if I knew ahead of time there will be six in my group, I could pull out before there was an issue. Just let me know.

Cogito, if you are in a larger group (6) the rounds are usually smaller than those with 5. So you would end up with the same size quilt. I don't mind 6 but would like to speed up the turn around a little bit so we all finish at the same time. Don't think it would make a huge difference, maybe a week???

Cogito - per the instructions on the first page:
Center should be any size between 12 "- 24 "finished, dividable by 3. (Be sure to add ½” for seam allowance!) The center may be square or rectangular. (The center block, all borders, cornerstones, or whatever should be carefully squared each step of the project.). The size of your center will determine the finished size of your quilt.
Borders will be 3 1/2" - 6 1/2" dividable by 3's again. (The center block, all borders, cornerstones, or whatever should be carefully squared each step of the project.)

Assuming that the border size alternates between rounds and you have 5 people per group it would go something like this:
You are person 1 - make a 12 1/2" square center
Person 2 adds a 3 1/2" border 12.5+3.5(left side)+3.5(right side)-.5(seams)=18.5
Person 3 adds a 6 1/2" border 18.5+6.5+6.5-.5=30.5
Person 4 adds a 3 1/2" border 30.5+3.5+3.5-.5=36.5
Person 5 adds a 6 1/2" border 36.5+6.5+6.5-.5=48.5
Your quilt would be 48 1/2" square when it was returned to you

To clarify, the original group was going to have 6 people and the center limit was to be from 12 1/2"- 18 1/2". Each round would be from 3 1/2" - 6 1/2", dividable by 3's.
Then as more people asked if they could join, we started making groups of 5 each, with the center size from
12 1/2" - 24 1/2"with each round being 3 1/2"- 9 1/2" dividable by 3's.
The size of each round is up to the person adding that round. The person adding the round looks at the top and adds what that person feels that the center needs.
