I am new to quilting (just turned 70) and have had 2 lessons and am learning the rest from books and internet "how-to" clips. Wished I had started this endeavor years ago.

I am self taught. Learned a lot from watching to and the internet. I go to a quilting class but it mostly gossip and to see what others are doing.

My Gran and Aunts quilted but I thought it was too time consuming to trace and scissor cut those little pieces. Fast forward to the 1980's and I lucked into Eleanor Burns on TV. With new products I figured I could do this, and I am still trying. Two Guilds , hundreds of books and magazines later, I am still learning.

Started sewing clothes for 4-H and Home Ec classes when I was seven. When I was 16, sewed and quilted first quilt, and thirty some years later, still sewing clothes and quilts.

Self taught through books mostly, but started with classes 26 years ago doing the sampler quilt. Since then have done 2-3 classes on different techniques and have only done similar projects from just one of those classes - the others didn't hold my interest at all. You also get some great ideas and assistance from others if you attend a quilting group. For the last few years I haven't attended any quilting groups but now get lots of inspiration from this Board, my new 'quilting group' :)

self taught & never had a class - which is why I joined this board - to learn & pick up tips for things I wasn't sure of. Thanks to all who contribute here
