All of my students are going to do this. Also tomorrow is our ASG neighhood group meeting and I'm going to challenge them to make the quilts. I belong to a very giving group. Tomorrow we are making baby clothes for "Newborns in Need".
May I ask what is "newborns in need"? Making baby clothes is second only to quilts on my list of favorite things to sew...

I received my kit last week, it's the same one that scrappylouisa got (pic. on pg 10). I'm wondering...with all those bright colors do I wash the fabric first or not? I'm thinking not?

Newborns in Need is just what is sounds like. (sorry don't mean that as a smart remark). The website is www.newbornsinneed.com
When I first started teaching, I taught girls in their teens. I chose the month of Feb and these girls sewed unselfishly the whole month for babies. Mostly the clothes are knits, some flannel. There are very specific patterns. I think this started for premie babies. Sometimes the fabric is donated. I know I've donated a lot of knits to my friend. Please check out the website it's a very worth while cause. Oh and some women only make the burial gowns for the babies.

Thanks for the link. Signed up and now all I have to do is wait for the kit and start sewing.

Don't wash the material first but do wash the quilt after it is finished before you mail it back.

This is such a neat idea. Does anyone know if there is a time limit on getting the quilt back to them??? Would like to do this but time is kind of short due to the Holidays....

They ask that you send them back within 4 to 6 weeks.

I received my kit yesterday, when I got home from work. I haven't taken a pic yet. But the fabrics are really pretty. There's a bright blue with a sort of sailing motif with red and orange fabrics. I'll probably start it on Saturday.
