If you use muslin and want a color, why can't you dye it to match some colors used in the front? Seems to me this would work. If you want to get really funky, it could be tie dyed to. Anyone ever try this?

I did use it when I started quilting but found I like to match the back to a color used in the front. Makes it so much nicer

I'm new to the Quilting Board and I am really enjoying everyone's feedback. I do hand quilting and I use Muslin for quilt backs all the time. I love the design on the back of the quilt as much as the quilting on the front.

Me too. I love the old fashioned look for many blocks. And I have foound the quilts with musline backs are most cozy to wrap up in as they seem softer.

I'm new to quilting, and like the classic look of muslin, but really love how the chosen backing often complements the quilt. In the few quilts I've done the backing and binding are made of the same fabric, and it brings out the colors in the quilt.
