For my birthday, my husband bought me an "under the cabinet" 15.5" TV/DVD player. He actually mounted it under a shelf. It's great when I am hand sewing (or ripping out stitches). When I am using the sewing machine, I like to play my CD's. I just like soft sound while I sew.

Sometimes the TV and sometimes the radio, sometimes a CD and sometimes, just plain quiet. Depends on my mood at the time.

I listen to Jazz, or I watch netflix on my computer. I also have satelite tv and will listen to HGTV and the news if I am in there late enough. I also sometimes sew in peace and quiet! Hand sewing done in the living room in front of the TV.

I put the cable on the music channels and listen to the big band and singers from the 40's and Fifty's. Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clunney and others. It keeps me sewing. Sometimes my wife comes in and says " You are going to get a ticket if you don't slow that sewing machine." LOL

I mostly prefer the quiet too, as I am married to a very noisy retired hubby, who always has to have tv or music on. Drives my hearing aids crazy sometimes. Occasionally, I listen to my iPod Nano, with speakers in my studio, or put one of my movies on, but mostly the quiet. Love living out of town in the quiet, wooded countryside, & enjoying the peace & quiet... ahhh!!!

I generally listen to either music or a book on cd's! Interesting post!

Usually quiet - once in a blue moon the radio - wished I lived in the country.

I love to put a CD of Old Time Radio shows on and listen to mysterys or comedys. I tried to put a movie on once, but I messed up my stiches too much. Some one told me to either watch the movie or sew, I can't do both!
