It depends on what I'm doing. If it requires concentration or if I'm machine quilting, I prefer music. Otherwise, I listen to an audio book or have the television on. The funny thing is, I can't listen to music with a definite rhythm when I'm machine quilting or it throws me off.

I listen to a Book on cd if no one else is home. If my son is home, I listen to whatever he has on TV, radio, etc.

Lately audio books on my iPod. A great way to multi-task! Sometimes the tv, but then I have to stop what I am doing to see whats going on then I have to re-focus on my project.

It is the only time no one is arguing with me about the TV. So it is either my favorite sewing/quilting/home improvement show. Any other show that I really like, news, or a rented movie.

We do not have cable (live in the country) nor do we have satellite and I rarely get a chance to see TV - I sew and watch at the same time.

Hmmm.......I guess it varies. Sometimes I want complete silence -- especially after being with lots and lots of pre-teens and teenagers all day long!! Sometimes I listen to old-time gospel music, classical music, or oldies (1950s and 1960s era). Then if I'm in the Christmas mood (which can strike at ANY time, even in the heat of summer!!), I will listen to Christmas music or "watch" a favorite Christmas movie or two or three on DVD on my portable DVD player -- no TV in the sewing room. I will sometimes put on a non-Christmas movie. I really don't watch them because I have seen them so many times that I have them all memorized. :D I have noticed that I will often pick a movie to fit the theme of the project I'm working on. For example, if I'm making a winter or Christmas quilt, I will watch a Christmas movie. If it's a summery quilt, I will watch something like "Somewhere in Time" or "Return to Me" or any of a number of other ones. If I'm in the living room/dining room area, I will often turn on the TV to TCM -- LOVE that station!!!! On occasion I will watch something on the History Channel while sewing -- yeah, yeah I'm a history nut!!! When I applique or do other hand sewing (i.e. quilting, embroidery or crochet), I often enjoy the peace and quiet although sometimes I will have TCM turned on. ;-)

I listen to a variety of music while I quilt. There's nothing better than music and sound of my machine.
