The star part has an extended background that you trim back to the correct size after piecing. Then it's bordered all the way around with rectangles. Very pretty, I've done several.

First quilt I made was Rails pattern ... three fabrics, and very forgiving. In fact, I made one in class and one at the same time at home. When I finished, I had two quilts. If I can make it, I know you can. Welcome, to the wonderful world of quilting and your new friends on the Board!
