Gorgeous string quilt! Your use of value makes those blocks look like gemstones!

I really like the look of that rug as a border too! If you could find a dark gray fabric like that it would look great. If it were mine I would be tempted to put a dark gray or black border of about 2" finished size then a very, very narrow border of your pieced rainbow colors blending from one to the other. Yellow shading to orange, shading to red, shading to purple shading to blue shading to green which can shade back into the yellow. I would piece the strings then cut them so they finish no wider than 1/2" then repeat the dark gray black border at around 4" wide.

OMG I love the quilt. I do not think I have ever fallen in love with a quilt so fast or so hard. Did you purchase all the material special for it??? Did you have a pattern that told you what to buy etc?? I Must make a quilt like this.
any "hints" THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

you will not believe this, but i did a quilt VERY similar to this, except mine was rectangle, actually used dryer sheets for the foundation. i did a narrow black scrappy border, about an inch, then did multiple stripes with the strips. i know there is a name for it, but i don't recall what it is. the stripes would be horizontal on either side, verticle on top and bottom and on an angle in the corners. when i do use a border on my quilts i usually make them 1/2 the width of the block.

I am a fan of scrappy bindings. Cut a bunch of 2½" strips, join them together and use them for the binding. Great way to pull your blocks out in a subtle manner without taking away from the black framing.

I think a charcoal colored binding is all that is needed. Beautiful!

Gorgeous scrappy string quilt. Would you mind sharing with us your planning process so that your blocks came together so each of the four HSTs of the same colors met and looked like a block? Any practical hints/suggestions you could share would be appreciated.

Oh, yes, I think a black border is all that is needed to frame this gorgeous quilt.
