Wow, that was a great price.

A designer told us that most of our fabrics come from Korea and Japan. She added that she has very mixed feelings about the fact that they are able to produce such beautiful, multi-colored fabrics because their environmental laws are not as strict as ours here in the States.

Yeah, but these arethe real deal and worth every penny. They send these great emails out about once a month with all their new additions. Right now I'm working off a huge gift certificate a friend gave me as a present - she knew I would return (to her) anything else she bought me. This I didn't give back. ;-)

I saw some lovely fabrics from Japan at the local quilt store but alas, I think they were running about $35 or more a yard. And now with the nuclear fallout, I wonder how many people will really be interested in purchasing fabrics that are Japanese made???

If the factories that produce the fabrics were impacted by the recent events, it will likely be awhile before more are seen. But, I don't think Japanese manufacturers will increase prices drastically because they really can't afford to lose sales or customers.

At one stage, the majority of the material that you could buy in this country was manufactured in Japan, so that is not really a surprise. What does surprise me is how cheaply you guys buy it.
