We do atleast one giant yard sale every year. I never put quilting stuff in it but my mom does and what she doesn't sale always comes home with me, like I need anymore.

Good idea but that is my fear, also. Could also do something along the lines of what I've heard moms do with children's toys/clothes. They get together everyonce in awhile and trade off b/c kids get tired of their toys and then the others are new to them. Clothes get outgrown but are still in good condition, etc. No money involved!

on the other hand, even if you did spend all you made on other stuff, you'd still have broken even buying all "new" stuff.

YES!!! I have to....I need to make some room for redoing my sewing room.
I held on to things for years because the boys wanted them for when they moved out. When they moved out, I went to give it to them and they didn't want. Garage sale! I'm not storing it any longer. I have 3 twin size comfortors that are in good shape, to twin beds in the house anymore. (not made by anyone we know) 2 twin headboards and frames. Lots of misc.

As a suggestion, one of the best attended yard sales I ever went to years ago was where they put the name of the dish set. And even for 3 pieces I wanted to fill out my Noritaki ? dishes. I got them just ahead of another woman who wanted the same thing.

And I got one more place setting of an old Betty Crocker tableware set to fill out one my daughter wants.

One yard sale I went to last week was held by a quilting guild, I suspect it was to help with burial costs for the one who had just died. They sold masses and masses of fabric for 50 cents per pound. The place was jammed and I saw folks I know who came from other towns.
