I have the mini clover iron. It worked fine, but I kept grabbing it in the wrong spot and burning myself, so I put it in a closet and got this one by Dritz. I love it! It has 4 different temperature settings, an adjustable stand, and the head is adjustable, too. I put it next to my machine so I can do quick presses of seams in between sewing.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like it may do better on appliques, since it does not get that hot. I just have trouble with my regular iron when it comes to pressing open those ALMOST 1/4" seams. LOL.

I bought one of those Rowenta steam travel irons at Joanns this summer and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! Seriously, they aren't cheap but I did get mine on sale. I used it for some regular ironing too because I was too lazy to put up my ironing board.

The other portable iron I use is a hobby iron that I got in a hobby store. It costs between $15-20 and is primarily used as a "sealer" but it gets really hot and is teflon coated so does a good job too.

That little tiny one that looks like a miniature iron -- I had one - the cord came out on the left side and got in my way - I'm right-handed. So check that out. A friend has the long-handled Clover and it worked beautifully!

I have the clover mini iron with interchangeable heads. I bought the clover stand for my mini iron. (It has a red bottom & white top.) I use the bottom stand (red) to hold my mini iron on when I am using it. I LOVE IT!!!! Good luck with your search.

I took my big Rowenta to retreat recently and had to unplug it as it kept causing the breaker switch to go off. I think I shall get a travel Rowenta that isn't so apt to blow circuits.

I, too, have the rowenta travel iron and love it.
