I used rice in my chicken pincushions, but I do like the feel of the sand better. Rice works though. My next chickens, I am going to put some of that fun hair on them. Gives them more personality I think. You made some cute ones!

How about using scraps of batting? Or are you wanting something "weighty?"
If for a pin cushion, I don't understand the beans, rice, etc ... could someone explain?
And in that same vein, popcorn would work well!
