There is also a product called "Un-do" It is fast and works on all stuff that is self adhesive(as opposed to things like the old time lick & stick stamps) It also works great on Fed-ex type envelopes.

When we moved they lost our patio table, I filed claim and sent the receipt in for my purchase that I found on sale at a great price. I received my check almost in return mail, they really do want satisfied customers when all is said and done.

If you do remove the ichy sticky stuff don't forget to charge the shipper for you supplies to do so.

Success ! The WD-40 did the trick. I sprayed it on the sticky residue areas and let it sit for a minute or so. Then dabbed it off with paper towels, and then rubbed and could see the residue "rolling" off. Washed the whole mat with Dawn dish soap and my mats are now like brand new. Thank you so much for the advice; hope it also helps someone else in cleaning up their mats.

I use alcohol swabs. It takes several of them but it doesn't leave any oily or sticky residue. It's also great for removing Sharpie marker from the edges of your rulers. BTW, rubbing alcohol is great for cleaning mirrors too.
