I had my little pair of thread snips on a ribbon around my neck until one day....I bent down to pick something up off the floor and on the way up my ribbon caught on the bottom drawer pull of my treadle. After almost giving myself whiplash, I decided to abandon the ribbon and go back to hunting for my tools. The vest sounds like a way better option for me. Who knew the sewing room could be so hazardous?

I wear a small pair of scissors on a lanyard around my neck otherwise I miss place them under something and give myself fits! I also had a hard time with the seam ripper so....
I created this little ditty from a spool of thread and sticky velcro!
I also use a sticky magnetic business card to hold pins quickly.

I bought a little tool apron thingy from Home Depot that ties around your waist. Has several sections or "pockets" in it; like you might see a carpenter wearing. I have broken too many neck things when the end gets caught on something, like Tartan says: whiplash.

I have a lanyard that breaks apart if pulled so it won't get caught on anything. My problem is running out of the house while I am still wearing my "jewelry" as I have a screwdriver, thread snips and a seam ripper attached to it. Thankfully I live in a small town and people know that I am a little uhmm eccentric.

I love your idea of a small magnet on your machine for pins. Can you use it safely due to the size so it won't interfere with your machine's computer. I have always heard you can't have any magnets close to your machine. For my scissors I use the 3M command strips with the hook & velcro & attach to the side of my machine & hang them. I love using magnetic pincushions but am afraid of the computer part, I purchased a small Singer and was told not to get it even close to a magnetic.

I learned not to wear anything sharp around my neck or in my pockets.
This sounds like a recipe for disaster. My aunt was a hairdresser and
she used to keep her scissors in her pocket. Well, one day she
forgot to remove the scissors and when she got in her car the
scissors poked her in a very bad way. Be careful.
