I don't really know anything about this machine, but it is a beauty. It will make someone very happy.

I hope you got this machine by now. It is a Singer Model 15 Clone. The best machine I have sewn on is a Singer model 15 Clone. Everything positive that is said about them is true in my opinion. Send some better pictures if you do get it.

I too have a Modernage Super Deluxe sewing machine. It was given to me yesterday without a cabinet. Is $25 what it is worth or was that just a good offer? Mine has a label on it that says "Reg US Patent Office". Are you sure these are made in Japan?

Super Deluxe equals made in Japan. Look underneath and see if there is a JA or JC number. That will also indicate that the machine was made in Japan.

Hi...I just found this site. My mother-in-law passed away a few years ago and she had a Modernage Super De Luxe Precision sewing machine which was given to me. I did not receive an instruction manuel. I am wondering what size belt this machine takes? The one on the machine was cracked, and finally broke. I did find an instruction manual for this machine online, and it says it's a "v belt". Doesn't mention anything about the size. The model # is 615074, and it does say made in Japan on the front. Thanks.

If you still have the belt, measure the length of it, and then you can order one in that size. Any sewing machine shop in your area should have one, or you can order one online.

If the belt is not still on it, wrap a piece of fabric around it then measure the length. I've used the stretchable belts from Sew-Classic, they work great and you only need a pretty good idea of the length. BTW, that is a very pretty machine.

I also have a Modernage Super Deluxe but I don't know anything about it. Are you saying it is a Singer knockoff? Mine is not in a cabinet. I would like more information on it. My serial # is R54147. Any ideas when it would have been manufactured?

How did you find the model number? I have a modernage too but I don't have an owners manual.

#1nonnie yes that is a Singer model 15 clone. After WWII the Japanese were given (or sold?) permission to copy some US manufactured goods in order to rebuild thier economy. Singer model 15 sewing machines were 1 item that Japan copied after the war. I don't know anything about all the details but that's how it started. By many accounts here the 15 clones produced in Japan are every bit as good, perhaps better than, the ones Singer made themselves.
You may want to take a look for the thread "Will the Real 15 Clone Please Stand Up". There may be more info there for you.
