Thx for sharing! I machine bind, but was wondering what stitch to use to join a knitted towel to cloth. I think this will work great!

Great tutorial. I have been using the ladder stitch on binding and didn't know it. LOL

Gee, I thought everyone used this stitch on bindings. My Mom taught me to use this on hems. I always use it for bindings. Love it.

My local quilting partner uses this method, and her applique stitches as well as her binding stitiches are INVISIBLE!!! She's shown me this before, but this is a great tut...thanks!

I knit and this stitch was one that I was to use for some leg warmers I made. Now I get what the instructions were trying to tell me - thanks. And since I am almost ready to bind my first quilt, the tutorial will come in handy.

I use the blind stitch for binding.

Here is a pdf document I made for our 4-H quilting club about binding:

I used the ladder stitch all the time when I bind. I didn't know what it was call, but it is invisible. I've even doubled my thread to enforce this and it is still invisible. I love stitching the binding because it is the grand finale of the quilt.

Great tutorial - nice refresher for me - used to do it this way and changed for some reason - think I will go back and try this way again. I am new to applique and have never done this stitch with applique, but will certainly try. Right now I am appliqueing 23 1" circles (bouquet of balloons) to twelve blocks -- I am learning every day ...

Thanks for sharing the tute. I'm going to suggest using this method when our group does the binding on a charity quilt. I can tell who did what section on the quilt if we use the usual blind stitch since each of us uses different needles, stitch lengths, etc. This way no one would be able to see any stitches.

Interesting......I was taught that stitch when putting hems in garments...lay the fabric over your forefinger as you create the stitch gives it bit of give & the finished look is an invisible stitch.
