The top one is upsidedown and reads Khalid Shawl. It is a prayer rug, and belonged to somebody named Khalid. The blue, which is stunning, is also a prayer rug. They are hand woven and took days to make.

Please don't cut them up. They are treasures as they are.

They are too gorgeous to cut up.

The red one is much larger almost twin blanket size. . And now you said shawl I could see I had it upside down and backward. :-)

The size of this one is 44x84 I found prayer shawls online and they seem to be bigger length 108"

The thing is if I cannot use these I do not have the room to keep them.

I have cut up wedding gowns to make quilts. Yep the first cut was the hardest. But I would rather cut up a beautiful piece of fabric and use it . I guess seeing so many things "saved" makes it easier for me.

Maybe you could hang them up on a wall. They are beautiful.

Oh cut them and don't worry about others. I am sick and tired of people getting offended over the littlest things. You are not doing to be insulting so make the bags. They will be gorgeous....

I agree with quiltingfan, somewhat. I would never have thought about cutting them up to make something beautiful as being offensive. I just wish that all those who we are worried about 'offending' would be just as worried about 'offending' the rest of us.

They are gorgeous. I hope someone responds and answers your question for the benefit of all of us. It is incredible how small the world is but yet how little we know of each other.

Can you use them as a backing or centerpiece for a quilt? That would use them without cutting them.

They are beautiful but I'd be afraid to make anything of the top one until I knew what those words meant.
