My Husqvarna Viking SE was named yaers ago by one of my students. When I bought her, my student saw her and started calling her "ESSIE" and it stuck. The Featherweight that I learned to sew on when I was about 10, which I got from my mom when she passed away is called "BABY". My little Janome Excel,23L, which has always been so faithful and my little workhorse I refer to as "TOOTIE". My graet grandmother's treadle is "GRANNY" and my Husqvarna Huskylock 936 serger is just called "936". Sort of like naming our pets, huh!

I named my Bernina 830 Big Bertha as she is definitely in comparison to my 150 QE.

My Pfaff 130 (the machine I use every day) is named Leslie. Leslie was previously owned by a farmer named Leslie who bought him at a farm auction, because his wife wouldn't let him sew on her machine. Leslie only sewed denim quilts for his grandkids and charity. Now Leslie, the machine, sews everything.

The electronic Viking from the 1990's that I gave to my niece is named Lena.

I have yet to name the FW and 301.

I started named my machines after I started collecting them. I thought it would be easier to keep them straight. I named two of my machines after former owners (they belonged to friends' Moms who used them), they are Martha and Elsie. Two are named after my two grandmothers, Helen and Elsie, just because. And one I named Vesta because I like the name.

I haven't named my machines, but I have come down with the "Bernina" Flu on occasion.

I have friends who give everything a name! Their tree in the back yard is Tom. Their cars are Scooter and The Beast. I have never thought of naming anything other than my dog! lol However I do feel that my car and sewing machine have "feelings" so I am very kind to them and don't work them too hard!! lol

My Singer treadle is called "old clunky" due to the fact she's old and makes a lot of noise when I treadle. My new Bernina 440 is named Bernini after the artist because some day I hope to be able to claim Bernini helps me create art.
