Thank you everyone for your honest opinions! I haven't made up my mind how I will proceed as of yet. Maybe I'll do one in all flannel, like I normally do and the second with flannel and cotton (to see how it turns out). I am tempted to try something new! I normally don't break the rules, but am seriously thinking about it here! Have a great day all!

I just made my first two rag quilts...one with cotton batiks front and back with orange flannel between...and a kona cottons with yellow flannel middle. Didn't prewash anything and they turned out beautifully. I washed and dried wach one twice, then brushedwith a lint brush. I think you'll be pleasedif you trycottons. Good luck!
