I knew there was an auction but didn't know who was selling it. I've beentoTammy's shop and it was a nice one. I hear she is moving to the southwest.

Sounds like you really made a haul. Lucky for you, unlucky the shop went out of business.

Ah, what a shame. That was the only shop I visited last year when I was in Indiana visiting my sister in Greenfield. A really cute shop.

I too was at that auction. I live about 25 miles west of their building. My bid number was 234 if that gives you a clue as to the size of the crowd but as sweetana3 said they were also selling new building supplies, gigantic flower pots, kitchens, etc. I don't think some of these ladies were auction savy. I think they paid too much for things, especially when there was plenty of fabric (650+bolts). Towards the end I managed to buy 6 partial bolts for $4 but had to buy 6. Then I got 2 with more yardage (about 8 or 9 yds each) for $12 each. I considered the Thangles but couldn't get close and didn't know what I would do with so many. Even with a 10% buyer's premium added, I figured I paid about $1.50 a yd. for Moda, Hoffman and other premium fabrics that were priced on the bolt at about $9 I'm an auction nut and managed to get my husband to stay home but let me use his truck (just in case).

I haven't been to an auction that had fabric and/or quilting stuff. Still look at garage sales.

Wow, MissDaisy...you really hit the jackpot! It really saddens me when I hear of a small business closing. People put their heart and soul into them.
