I generally use them up when I can, but I stick them on top of the machine so I can see when they run out easier.

I just use it up while piecing. Sometimes though there is so little left on the bobbin, I pull it off. Singer used to sell bobbins that screwed apart so that you could pull the thread off, but they do not make them anymore, I guess. I used to find it very convenient, and sometimes now I wish they still make them!!!

I use it for basting. If I need the bobbin I just wind those odd pieces of threads on
an empty spool. I may have 10 different threads on one spool.

I use up all those bobbins when I am doing a crazy quilt or a scrap. I just put in one after the other until they are all used up...since I am using different colors anyway, it doesn't matter. I do the same with my big Gammilll bobbins. I just rewind the residue to my regular bobbins. I do not waste thread, too expensive......

I usually use it up - I've learned that exactly matching isn't important any more.

You can use the bobbin on the top too. That way you use them up faster and get your empty bobbins back

There is no rule that says you have to use top and bottom threads the same color so when piecing just use it up. I don't have that problem.

I store my partial bobbins with my thread. That way the next time I use that thread, I've got a bobbin waiting.

I agree, use it up!!! I only sew quilts, where no one really sees the thread color anyway. Thread is wayyyy to expensive to waste, and I shudder when I think of tossing it in the trash!

This is what I do too! Every spool of thread with the exception of black and white has their own bobbin.
