Thanks so much for your fun story! I had such a good laugh... which I really needed today. Thanks for being such a good daughter and good sport!

What a cute story. My sister would love that quilt, I was hoping for a pattern too. It's so cool you figured out how to do it without one. I bet if the judges knew that they may have given even more praise.

Did you ever figure out what closed miters are? Now I'm curious ... like a cat.

The criteria on the judging sheet says: corners mitered at 45 degree angle or squared off (miter should be closed and may be hand stitched).

I was thinking that means the corners should be stitched closed, but maybe it just means there should be no gap and you could stitch them, if you want. I don't know. One of my hand written comments is: "miters need some work in execution, close miters front and back."

Probably every corner on that quilt looks different. I usually stitch a corner, wonder what went wrong with it, flip through my basic quilting book, shrug, and then stitch on to the next corner and try it a little differently. Maybe by the 3rd or 4th corner, I am getting it right. Then, by the time I am ready to bind another quilt, days, weeks or months later, I have forgotten what I learned!

    Sounds like my corners,
