    The right size machine needle is very important no matter what size, ply or weight the thread may be. I use very thin thread in the bobbin, at least a 60 wt but prefer 80wt. With a super thin bobbin thread I can use a 50wt 3 ply and still have thin stitches in the seam.

    Ditto: Aurifil 50 wt. It doesn't add bulk to the seams.
