I use the clover yo yo makers and gather them with hand quilting thread to avoid breaking. I also like that they start out with squares, not circles. I dont care for different shaped ones, just the round ones.

went on a shop hop this past weekend and saw an ornament made out of the really small yo yo's with decorative pin in the center to attach them to Styrofoam ball. Also I have added them to 10 minute table runners and pocketbooks

I use the Clover circle for my 2 1/2" ones. I could do them without it, but it does keep my stitches an even size. I use Guterman polyester thread. My intent is to make a table runner.

I have the round ones & heart shaped ones by Clover, bought for a retreat project a few years back. The instructor gave us the basic design but never did give us the completed pattern, so after a few months I just "winged it" to have it completed. Thimblebug, I love your quilt! I'm doing a series of spring-themed wallhangings right now. Do you mind if I borrow your pattern? The Bleeding Heart will be great and the Cherry Blossom looks like our Dogwood trees. Thanks for posting this!

So far I have made about 70 yo-yos in 2 sizes, it also depends
on if I am at home or not as to which size I am making.

I have TONS of 5-1/2" squares that I have been cutting as I was
working on sorting, ironing, and folding my fabric. Wasn't sure what
I wanted to do with the squares, so now I am using them to make
the yo-yos.

Thimblebug that is a fantastic quilt you made. Thanks for sharing it.

We just cut circles, gather then with needle and thread and then push them flat. I also have several of the yo you makers but never used them. Maybe I should.

That pic of yoyo quilt is my personal challenge....I have the clover yoyo makers(all sizes) and really like using them. Makes all the stitches equal and therefore all yoyo s look the same. First I cut the squares with my GO, then away I go....may finish this in several years! BTW, I too use hand quilting thread, single, to do, I don't knot at beginning, but at end of circle, I take both ends, after gathering, and tie into a surgeon's knot.....a square knot with an extra turn in on last knot.
