We have a 2nd hand store that I need to go into. I love wool and purchase it for an expensive price. I want to 'find' a deal like you did. Yes, wash in hot water and dry on hot. Shrink those babies!!!

I gathered old wool skirts, suits, etc. from family members and thrift stores. Washed all (might need to wash in pillow case or bag to prevent excess ravel) and dried. I have made two throws so far with brushed fabric blend(don't remember content..just very soft) for backing. They have survived many washings and everyone loves them. Just did HST designs.

I believe that I have seen that wool that is worsted will not shrink and felt like regular wool can. It would still be wonderful for a wool quilt, throws or scarves, but it just will not shrink and felt.

WOW, did you hit the jackpot, or what? Loveley find!! I love wool, it is my newwest passion. a year ago I signed up for a block of the month from the "primitive garden" from the "primitive gatherings" series. Just started it in April, I love it. I've been looking for the wool clothing, as well, just to use for art quilts, etc. But a patchwork wool blanket would be to die for!!! I plan to have all the little pieces cut out to take with me on my trip at the end of the month. Anyone know if there is any kind of scissors allowed. Just need to cut my thread and floss with them. A little piece of wool at the LQS is VERY expensive. Pictures attached. Enjoy.
Just yesterday I purchased a thread/yarn cutter pendant at Michael's. I'm sure that Joann's has it also. It's approved for travel...no point or sharp blade...just a narrow cutting edge enough to cut thread on one half or yarn on the other. Got great reviews.

Get a box of dental floss! You can carry it on and if it can cut floss, it will cut thread and yarn!
