If you want to try the Double wedding ring pattern, go on to Eleanor Burns website. I am currently working on one using her method and it is very simple. good luck I love you picture--a real treasure

She was very talented. How wonderful that you are going to carry on with the quilting. Your Nan would be so proud

Does anyone know what this pattern is? Usually I'm really good at searching things but I have no idea what to search for to find patterns.
That is one of the best known ever quilt patterns. Double wedding ring. Should be available in thousands of web sites and hundreds of book.

tumbling blocks, also a very common pattern. You may find slightly different variations of the name

What a lovely photo of 3 generations. You were lucky to know your grandmother. The quilt on the back of the couch is a double wedding ring. There are a variety of ways to make this, but it's not quite a beginner quilt, although I have seen some simplified versions that looked fairly easy. A little research might give you a simplified version. That quilt is one on my bucket list.
