for anyone using Windows 8, which I don't like either, there is an update, 8.1 This corrects some of the annoying features and lets the desktop resemble Windows 7.

We updated 8 to 8.1 and can't see much difference. Still hate it. Also, there is no Free Cell, which we both love to play. Shortly we are going to go to a computer shop and have 7 put in. Not messing around with the goofy mess. Actually, we use the old computer most of the time, Vista and we have a laptop with 7. I am putting all my 18 boxes of photos onto flash drives, am using the MGI Photo Suite program that I've used since 1996. Kept my disc all these years. But it won't load on 8. However, in checking to buy a new version, I found it's a free download.

I can't even find the pictures I downloaded from our camera.....I really hate Windows 8 and none of the books I have purchased for Windows 8 explain how to find your photos anywhere. I joined a computer club to try to figure out Windows 8 and I was the only one there with it and no one could help me. I guess I need to hire my own personal computer guru.

Sorry I don't have windows 8 but use Lightroom 4 for storage and editing of my photos. I hope you get the help you need somewhere along the way....

I am STILL running Windows XL and I don't regret it at all. I have a program called Adobe PhotoDelux4.0. Love it !!

I would have kept my Vista and tried to get it repaired if I had realized just how difficult Windows 8 is. I took a class at the adult school and the instructor told us not to download 8.1 as we probably would lose some things we already had. I was told the same thing by a computer tech. I thought I had pictures figured out when I talked to them but you know it never works when you get home.

I am trying Irfanview and will look into the other programs that people here suggested. Thanks everyone for your recommendations.

Should we we just go back to film? Just kidding. I think.
