    Don't know if this has been suggested but I see flying geese. Yes you would have a seam in the cream background but it would give you the most accurate block. One side of the geese would be your background and the other would be your red or brown. Example if your block finishes at 12" then the flying geese would finish at 2" x4". Make sense?

    There is no y seam. Just three squares across and three down......the center squares in top and bottom row are made is quarter square triangles.... An easy basic block......look for directions on how to make a quarter square block.....as far as size of bloc...easier if divisible by 3.

    Cut your square 5 1/4 inches and slice it twice diagonally in both directions. This will give you 4 of the small triangles for a unit that finishes 4.5 inches. Hope this helps.
