    I like to cut square pieces out of phone books (or thin fabric) instead of using rectangles. You get a lot more possibilities for arranging the blocks if they are square and can be turned in many ways. I love scrappy strip quilts.

    Old phone books are going the way of the dinosaurs, so if you like the technique, start collecting for down the road when phone books won't be around. Keep us posted on your progress.
