All my scraps go to my sister. She makes potholders, placemats, tissue holders, sewing machine pads, pin cushions, etc., with strips that are 1-1/2" or wider. Scraps that are smaller than 1-1/2" wide go into a separate bag, and she uses this for stuffing pin cushions, dog beds, etc. I include everything -- thread, clipped dog ears, small triangles from flying geese and snowballs, trimmings from squaring blocks up. Nothing gets wasted.

List them on the Free Offers and Donation section of this site. Someone might like them and be happy to pay for the postage. I pass on all my scraps to a lady who uses them to stuff dog quilts for charity.

if they aren't too small, i stitch another seam before cutting off. then save them for later. Here is a quilt i used some rather small ones on. i added more fabric around them to make them larger though.

I just save mines in hopes of making a scrappy quilt one day. Love the quilt in you avatar. Can we see a bigger picture of it?

I do many FG as well and most of mine are 2 x 4 (2.5 x 4.5 unfinished)finished size. I also use the method of sewing 2 .5" square diagonally through the middle to either side of a 2.5 x 4.5 rectangle. The resulting triangle that is lopped off I always sew the two pieces together and from that I can get a 1.75 or 1.5 HST. There are many full size quilt block patterns that use this size of HST. Tree of Life, Bears Paw, Maple Leaf, Delectable Mountains, Ocean waves, just to name a few are all very nice quilt patterns that use many small HST and most of these look good done scrappy. So you are most definitely not limited to miniatures with the waste from your FG.
