I did get it appraised by a member of the AQS that was certified to do appraisals. It was appraised at $1,800 back in 2008.

I think those numbers are a little misleading- they are constantly adding new quilts and new quilters are joining all the time- sometimes (when things are slow with new quilts/people joining/adding) the numbers actually go up. I've been selling there for 3 or 4 years now and have had quite a few commissions along with sales. sometimes I have one quilt on there- sometimes 4 or 5 and I receive regular daily emails from the site with many * sold* quilts along with new listings. of course like many things quilt sales are a bit (seasonal) holidays and winter time there are more sales than during the months with nothing happening, or hot summer days

that looks like an interesting website; i'm amazed at the price they are getting for some of the smaller quilts. does anyone know of a similar site to sell tops?

Default Here's a picture of the quilt

They're holding it upside down, the bottom part is the part that goes over the pillows.

20% commission is higher than EBay which I believe usually adds up to about 13% (although it may have gone up). When I sold some things on EBay in 2003 it was 3%!!

There is a yahoo group called: quilts for sale. You could try them.

The quilt is beautiful! I think I would contact the New England Quilt Museum (as an example) and see if they would like to buy it. Not all museum pieces are donated - they have budgets for new acquisitions. Then many, many people would have the opportunity to see this beauty for years to come.

Beautiful quilt. Wouldn't it be interesting to know all of its history?
