You don't need to backstitch from the edge, but do backstitch at the point at the fold.

Be sure to use 100% cotton batting. And I have read where some have caught fire, but that's because they were left in the microwave too long. I don't put one in the microwave for over 4 minutes, and it usually only takes 2-3 minutes to warm something up. And they are good for protecting your hands from cold foods (like ice cream), too.

Oh My Goodness!! I have to vote you the "QUEEN" of making these beautiful Microwave Fabric Bowls. I have to say that after making the one I made, I now have the bug to start making many more!! I can just see an assembly line in my sewing room now. How Fun & we all thank you for sharing your bowls with us. Your fabric's are so yummy. Will you be making any more for June?

I also make these for sale and have sold well over a hundred. My only problem has been with those making them from "100% cotton", usually Warm and Natural batting. If you read the fine print you will find the normal scrim/glue/poly additives present in most batting. It is NOT 100% cotton. There is a special batting made for the microwave without the 'additives' and a little prevention could go a long way!

Thank You so much for this terrific information. It is so important that we all know just what we are using in our projects to remain safe at all times. I plan on going to my fabric store & check out this special batting. The fabric bowl that I have made, I used warm & natural batting for the inside. It just seems to be the batting that I use the most of. I am also making you a "QUEEN" of the fabric bowls!!

Sully thank you for stepping in for me.... I sent you a PM and Patrice an email. My daughter went in to the hospital ER and ended up having emergency surgery. It really scrambled me badly when I realized what kind of danger she was in. Forgive me everyone. Im usually really good about not forgetting my commitments. Thanks again Sully and everyone else for understanding.

She is doing well now... just sore and healing from surgery. Yesterday my 16 month grandson came back home from his other grandma's house where he was staying while all of this transpired. He was mad and mommy but quickly forgot and was back into his regular schedule this morning.. All is well in my babygirl's home once again.
