It doesn't have the boss mount so can I still turn it into a hand crank?

I'm gonna need to go look at mine. I bought a hand crank with the Lotus decals on it, planning on putting it on. Never thought it might not have the boss on it to attach to . . .

well bummer! I have a genuine Singer hand crank with Lotus decals, and my lotus machine does not have a mount for it. I guess this means the lotus is coming out of the bentwood case and going back in the treadle base. Though it won't match the decals, I'll put the hand crank on one of the others.

My model 27 doesn't have a boss either. When things on the quilt project settle down I plan to make an adapter that doesn't require drilling for mounting a hand crank. There's an access hole on the end of the 27 right above where the motor boss would be on other machines. I think I can make something that hangs from that. If the 66s have a hole there then it would probably work on those machines too.
I know CD just bought a handcrank that is combined with the belt guard for a 27 or 28. I don't know if Singer made one for a 66 as well.

From what I’ve read, the Singer “wrap-around” hand attachment was made for models 27 and 15. I haven’t seen anything about one for a back-clamp 66 that had a pre-boss casting.

I’m also wondering if the hand attachment for models 27 & 15 were the same for both machines, and simply required different accompanying bobbin winders?

The really old 15s have the same size hand wheel as the 27 so the attachment likely won't fit a newer smaller 15 or a 66 or a 99 etc.

I know nothing about restoring old machines but I know a thing or two about dusting my furniture. To me, the completely uninitiated, it looks like a gentle wipe with a damp cloth would reveal those stunningly preserved decals. If I had come across a machine as beautiful as this I would grab it in a heartbeat. Wouldn't matter to me if it ever sewed another stitch. It would simply be in a place where I could see it, and smile at it's beauty, every day. Please do share a picture of her after she's been cleaned up.
