I have switched to liquid starch diluted 8 parts water to one part starch. Spray fabric walk away and let it sink into the fabric. Iron and use. Lots cheaper than anything else I have tried and works great!

I just watched Sharon Schamber address the question of residue yesterday. She said that if you ironed the fabric on the opposite side of the spray, you wouldn't have any residue on your iron.

I think you are spraying too heavily too. I use Magic Sizing and wait just 10 seconds after lightly spraying and get no residue on the iron..

I bought some Flatter spray to try. I like it better then Best Press but I use Best Press a lot because I have a gallon of it. I don't dilute it to get 50% more product and 50% less results. When I want stiff fabric I use Terial Magic Spray.

You are right: you use one or the other. I found Stay-Flo diluted by 4 water to one starch works as well and is tremendously cheaper. I keep my bottle of Stay-Flo diluted starch in the refrigerator. It will mold after a few months on the shelf.

I use it on all my fabric before cutting (to avoid shrinking) and have never had residue on my iron. One tip, always iron the fabric before spraying. Warm fabric absorbs the spray more quickly and always spray on the back of your fabric.

I have found if startching small pieces that a mister instead of a spray works best. But I do wait a few seconds to press.

I usually spray, then wait a few minutes for it to penetrate the fibers. If I am in a hurry (usually)I spray it and kind of rub it into the fabric with the palm of my hand

    Same here.

I love Best Press but I think I'm allergic. I sneeze and get a runny nose every time I use it. Anyone else have this problem?
