Quilting books

Our library has a Friends of the Library that sells donated books to benefit library programs. I figure it's win-win – the library gets money and the books get into the hands of quilters who want them.

it has been some years ago, but I downsized my quilt books about 2/3 by selling them on Ebay. It was a lot of fun and they went all over the world. After that big blast was gone as I have paper books and books on tape I no longer need I upload them to my Amazon storefront.
I helped a friend in Massachusetts learn ebay and she sold down a library twice as big as mine. She also took it as an opportunity to downsize stash by wrapping each book in fabric
Think she had perfect feedback? Oh yes.

Our library doesn't want donations.
I'll have to check on a quilt guild, but I don't have a very high opinion of most. Too many quilt police type. It seems like most have a purpose and their own agenda. I'd rather see a group that gets together and everyone does their own thing unless they do schedule a speaker or class. The other stipulation - all must be welcome regardless of ability or equipment. No BOM or any other organized activity that ALL have to do turning some things into competitions - more usage for helping new quilters and working around limitations of fabric, etc.
Everyone around here only wants stuff they can resell on Craigslist or Ebay and make themselves some money with little work.

If your local library has a friends group, chances are that group has a book sale once or twice a year. If they do, give the books to the friends of the library for its book sale. Those books will be a boon for someone! froggyintexas

With changing techniques and ideas in quilting and online resources it is very hard to even give away quilting books. I had a lot of good books and the library did not even want them. Also, I worked for the library and, sad to say, we threw out (or recycled when possible) huge amounts of books.
