Cathy, you and your DH have done a phenomenal job in setting this up, including your construction, arrangement, the whole thing! It's wonderful. I am so happy for you both! You have something you can really be proud of. I would love to come to South Dakota (in the summer only) to visit your museum, but I'm not sure I'll be physically able to travel -- we'll see when summer comes. I know I can't travel in the winter, not even here in Florida!

Congratulations!

Jeanette

Fantastic job! You and your husband must both love this hobby equally. Very lucky!

That is the problem! We really enable one another and now we're having to be tough as there is no more room.

I moved some of the machines back into the house yesterday. I don't have a lot of time during the week to get things done, especially on the days I drive in - I'm gone from 6 am to 6pm, and it's dark when I get home now. I did realize I've got two Whites out there that are foreign made. One is the neat looking double tension unit, and the other is the VS zigzag machine. The double tension White is so similar to the Anker Zigzag that maybe I won't keep it. So for now I'll put it on the floor and see what I end up with.

I was out there and noticed a case - and could not remember what it was. Opened up and saw the Sew Gem- so I need to find a place to display that one too. I think it may sit on top of another cabinet. Though I have to find a place for the Boye Display cases. Two are on bases, and I think I'm only going to keep one of the others. So that will be two to rehome (empty though).

I've come up with a way to display my puzzle boxes, and this weekend DH will be making me the case. It will go between the window and corner in the long arm room, and will hold 14 cases. I think I have around 25-30 of them, so that will be another item to send down the road. Maybe I can give them out as "visitor gifts" if I ever have visitors LOL!!

I hope you never have an earthquake, tornado, flood or fire in your area. All these wonderful machines would be lost.

No more so than if they were in houses as per usual.... (except the earthquake part)

me too - though earthquake would be a very rare occurrence. Fire is possible, as it would be anywhere, however their is not much to burn as it's not a big structure. Flood won't happen unless we stop having rainbows - as per God's promise. Tornado is about the most significant risk, and it would have to be a direct hit. However with the weight of machines, they might not go far! And if I had to choose, I'd rather the tornado took out that building than the house, but as long as no one got seriously hurt, the rest is still only "stuff".

Seriously though, I may only have one or two that are actually "special" the rest are way more common and anyone could amass a similar collection in a few years of watching and looking, and it would not take a lot of funds either. The real money is in my Attachment collection, and the rare ones stay in the house (where they really aren't any safer than out in the shed).

However with the long arm on the other side, I do have full insurance on everything.
