we have a mix in our area. the ones that grew to SC's kept the fabric, one of the ones that was built as a SC carries fabric, and one that was built as a SC (most recently) doesn't carry fabric.

    :? who knows -

Today.....April 26, 2008 there are a total of 38,854 signatures on that petition, and for some of us, it has been a big disappointment.

Can you imagine being in busness and having that many customers tell you they want you to give them a service, and turning your back on them?

And Private business would not survive. They would be forced to close.

Does anyone think that at some point in time Wal-mart could fail and fall out of the good graces of the public, and go out of business?

Think of many companies that rose to great heights and later fell so low they went out of business. Seems as though "nothing lasts forever." What about Wal-Mart? Will it last forever?

ours, which just last month went to a SC, lost the fabric department. such a bummer.

Not to mention that, but now they only carry about 5 colors of thread, and one, you read that right, ONE package of universal sewing machine needles. ugh.

All of the Wally worlds in our area have gone Super, and my mom works at the one just south of where we live, in a small town. They all still have fabric departments. Well, the ones here in my town are mor like fabric isles in some of the wall marts, but one or two still have a real department. My mom's store still has one, and she works in it frequently. I ask her on occasion about losing that department, and she says she has not heard one single thing. Who knows? I hope they keep 'em, tho.

I just signed the petition. It was very interesting. I also caught the video of the CEO. It was sort of short and I'm sure taken somewhat out of context, but still interesting s I work at Wallyworld, temporarily. I really hate the job and can hardly wait to quit. I spent three years in a mens max security prison and I do not believe I'll make it three months at Wal-mart. :D And I'm actually being paid a higher wage than at least one man with more experience than I have.

The one just up the road from me was getting pretty low and saying the would be closing the fabric section last year. Then all of a sudden the shelves were full again. I don't know what happened that caused the change though.

My Walmart (waaaayyy upstate NY) still has a fabric department and I haven't heard anything about them closing. I hope not, cause they have some fabric in their I want to use for a quilt for my mom.

With that said, I hate Walmart. Do I shop there? Yes--once a week. We have other BETTER grocery stores in town, but Walmart is cheap. . . and with me out of work, we can't afford to pay twice as much at Price Chopper and Hannaford. . . . With prices as low as they are, I don't think they could ever go out of business. They force people to shop there--and they care nothing about their customers.

I visited a walmart in Gardner Kansas. The woman cutting fabric said Walmart had a web page and we could complain there. will check this out !!

Wish we all could hold protest signs!! OK, 1960's a long way off but read in a magazine, we quilters are also the generation that did hold protest signs, sounds like this is our cause !

OK, we are fighting a war, my son is Air Force. He made me promise never to protest.. but.. this should be a safe protest !???
