I have two 201s, a 401 A, a feather weight 221, a 1914 treadle, I love them all.

I prefer any of the old machines that are Transverse mechanisms. I feel that the only reason they evolved towards rotary designs if for the speed and Stitches per minute as a marketing tool. I feel that the TS machines sew much smoother and make a better stitch.

I like the one's that are in working condition-but I adopt those in need of work as well. I just this morning picked up a Montgomery Ward sitting at some ones trash bin. She is in a center split top and front cabinet with knee pedal.She's brown in color with no decals -wheel moves but she is in need of a lot of cleaning inside and out. The serial # is M-05-NS-2671 and stamped into the bottom of the head is 22 50127 and it looks like there may be two more numbers behind the 7. Barely got her in the house before the rain and storm started. This will be my 1st vintage MW so some research is needed. And I already know who she will be going to live with. Now if I could find homes for at least 10 more I would inherit 1/2 of a room.

Seriously? I have a fried who swears her 28 is the best she has when it comes to top stitch and certain jobs, but so far I haven't aquired one. I might though, if I find one with roses ;- )

I have to admit that my VS2 is a fantastic machine to sew with, I just prefer the feel and sound of the TC machines. The 28/128 is a great machine but IMO one of the last of the really good ones.

a lot! It is one of my "goto" machines. Sews as smooth as you could wish for. Plenty of "punching" power and a large harp space.

I have 221 (3 of these), 66 treadle (2 of these), 127 treadle, 201 hand crank, 15-91 (my favorite, have 2), 301, and 503a. I had a 101, but passed it along when the motor gave out. I use them all but the 127 which needs major cleaning and repair. It was my hubby's great grandmother's machine which had been stored in a damp barn for years. The wood on the cabinet was not salvageable, but saved the drawers, irons, and machine. Can't wait to get it fixed up, but life keeps getting in the way!
