This quilt was displayed and they never did have the pattern, kit or fabric, she said, It was one of her own and didn't know name of pattern.

she should be asked to either take it down, or put that info on the quilt for future ???? What becomes of the samples displayed in LQS as these are replaced? Never thought about it until now.

Not every quilt necessarily comes from a single pattern. Sometimes ideas from multiple patterns have been combined for a quilt.

    Oh this is beautiful!!
It looks like they used Eleanor Burns' "Autumn Leaves" pattern for the leaves
(here's the link for that pattern: https://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponline/book/23186 )
She actually has a ruler tool to make the leaves.

my LQS typically donates many of the samples to charity, but she also sells finished quilts also and keeps a supply on hand for that--especially baby quilts.

My LQS always pins the pattern to the quilt on display. They often sell out of the pattern but it usually can be ordered or bought online someplace. It would be nice if they all did that.

Was in a QS about 45" from my home and she had a quilt hanging that I loved. I asked for the pattern, or who made it and the owner told me she made it but didn't know the name of the pattern or who pattern maker. That's happened before when I gone to her shop. I don't understand why she keeps doing that because other people have asked for the patterns of quilts she has on display but doesn't have the patterns. Most annoying to say the least. Now I won't look at her displays anymore for I know she won't have a pattern for the design...

And then she will wonder why she can't make it in the quilt shop business when things go "bust". She'll blame Walmart or Joann's or on line instead of looking at her own lack of business acumen.

I agree with Geri B. If they don't sell any of what is used in the making of a quilt on display then don't display! If they are selling the quilting sevice itself then that should be stated, otherwise take the whole thing down.
