I agree with airing, baking soda and quilting before washing. The Irish spring hint is new to me...will have to remember that one! It seems to me that they would not be that permeated with the smoke smell that the hints from all the quilt people would not be sufficient to remove the odor. I know if I receive something from someone who smokes in their home, even wrapped gifts, the smell is pretty strong. Glad I don't have that monkey on my back!!!
