Bkay I have a 404 that just randomly will skip a few stitches and sometimes the top thread will break. I think I need to remove the bobbin case and get down in there and clean out the race track.

Thanks, Cari. I've already done that. I cleaned everything out, removed the bobbin case and then removed the bottom and cleaned it from the bottom. I have not removed the feed dogs, but I took apart everything else and cleaned it.

It almost has to be operator error, but I can't figure out how. It's so random that it's hard to figure out what I was doing just before it happened. Then, you have to cut all those bunched up threads loose to get the fabric out. By the time you get to the bobbin case, you can't tell where the thread is hanging up. It's driving me crazy on this quilt. I may never get it done.

I'm not sure, but it may be related to back-tacking, but it doesn't happen every time.
