2 layers of minky are pretty heavy. I wouldn't use batting for a tiny baby. But I might for a toddler. Those mitered corner blankets with 2 pieces of minky are very nice, and don't use batting.

I love minki and fleece for backs now. I use batting on minki but on a heavy fleece no on a lighter fleece yes.

A thin layer of flannel helps give the Minky a little more body without creating too much extra bulk.

We share the same feelings about adding batting even when using minkee or fleece. It seems to look better to me - more substantial, more luxurious.

I have made 3 baby quilts with minky backing - used wool batting, just love the feel and the baby's mom loves how nice they wash and feel; have to make another to take to daycare because the DGD loves it so much.

    Default Question for you

I completed a pieced cotton baby quilt (2 1/2" x 5" strips). I wanted to ask if your front piece is a pieced cotton quilt? I thought it would be so much easier to place a Minky fabric with or without batting so that I don't have to "quilt" it together. My email: [email protected]. Thank you
