    Yes, they do stand side by side and touch each other. I just don't lay them flat (don't think they will fit) to protect the blade.

    I buy the Costco Laundry powder that comes in a rectangular pail. The pail is is the perfect size for storing dies.

    I don’t have a lot of dies, but I store mine in a pan rack I found at Walmart for about $5.
