My favorite batik quilt was a variation on a Drunkard's Path.

Tallchick's photo of her first quilt brought to mind my favorite pattern that I plan to make soon for my son using batiks. This one is called Barneby's Bands. https://www.quiltingcompany.com/stor...igital-pattern

As I recall, the pattern uses yardage, but can easily be adapted to fat quarters. The fabrics used in this quilt are just fabulous. (in my opinion) If I could purchase them now, I would.

I'm making this pattern using different colored batiks and one in different blue batiks, both with white background. It's easy, fast and makes a big Wow quilt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h17ta6t_K-8

Here's one I did - it used 20 fat quarters I think, with each fabric rotated in different positions in three different blocks (20 fat quarters = 20 blocks - if that makes sense!)
The pattern was from Connecting Threads, in a kit.
Sorry it's sideways!

Have to agree with sewbizgirl on the boomerang quilt. That's stunning, Tallchick!

So many beautiful quilts.

What to do, what to do.....

Funny - I made that quilt when Easy Quilts featured it, right down to searching out the fabrics (Silvia's Garden). I agree - gorgeous fabrics! I do think some of them are still available if you search - Silvia Vassileva is the fabric designer.

That pattern would work for batiks, but keep in mind some of what looks like small piecing is actually a 10 or 12" square of fabric that has a multicolor grid design to it, giving the illusion of smaller pieces in different colors.

Wow! That factors out to more than 12 yards of fabric. You've got enough for more than one quilt! I liked the suggestion of the braid with black sashing but was going to suggest a bargello, if your colors would work together for one of those.

My favorite batik pattern is Gimme Diamonds by Four Paws Quilts.
