I am using my passport 2 as a dust collector.....I haven't decided what to do with it....we had a garage sale...but I didn't feel right about selling even for $25 as it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't ......bummer....I just got it gone so I may just haul it to the recylcing place....
Have you talked to Brubaker's? they fix old Pfaffs. Their price may be too expensive, but they may want to buy your machine. Who knows. I know they buy broken 7550's (my machine) so they may buy other machines as well.

This almost sounds like something as simple as a bad foot pedal. Have you tried swapping out the foot pedal (if you have access to one).
My Pfaff 7550 (20 years old) has done that at times from the time I bought it new. I always thought it was something I was doing, but it's a glitch in the foot pedal that I should have gotten fixed under warranty many moons ago. Now it's just part of my machine's personality, because it's not really all that bad in my case ;-).
But I can understand that yours could be worse. Just thought I'd put the foot pedal idea out in case it's something you could try.
