I agree with those above who love the white border as is. Truly beautiful, Also agree that a few accents of white on the blue would put it over the top. Your quilt--but if it's intended as a gift to me, I love it as is!

Well thank you very much for the wonderful compliments about my quilting. It goes to show that practice does make perfect because less than 4 years ago I had sworn off FMQ!

I will cut out the feathers on white fabric and see what it looks like! Stay tuned ... more options coming!

Love it as it is. I think putting color on the quilt takes away from your tremendous quilting.

I wouldn’t use the blue on that lovely white border. I love the idea of white feathers on the blue in the corners. I think in only 2 opposite corners would be stunning.

Just my opinion here too... your quilting is breath-taking and absolutely gorgeous! If i could quilt like that to make such an absolute stand-alone presentation i would never use another color ever again!!! Your quilt is beautiful all on its own... cant believe you ever even thought of giving up FMQ!

Did you longarm this or use you DSM? You are such an inspiration to me! I truly hope you leave the quilt just as it is... absolutely gorgeous! 😊

I totally agree. It is gorgeous the way it is and accentuates the quilting. I think the applique will totally take away from the quilting.

I agree with all those that say the quilting on the white is beautiful - and can stand alone!!!

!!!! Thanks so much for the compliments! Truly grateful, because as I said, I've come a long way - some of the "oldies" on here will remember just how much I struggled!!!!

So I have decided that I won't add anything to the white border, but I am going to do some FMQ in white thread on opposite corners on the blue fabric!

    Final pics to come later!

The center and quilting is beautiful. I would lay the blue feathers out as you have shown in the (browns) photo. I would start about 1/3 from the right corner on the bottom and have the feathers go up the side until I ran out of feathers. (Starting on bottom, up right side and around corner on top border—you get the idea). (Leaving a lot of blank (feathers) on the left borders. I would “attach” the (individual) feathers to the spine with my quilting. When I ran out of (blue) feathers I would continue to quilt the spine and feathers around the rest of the border until I met up with the bottom where I started. I would blend my thread. I hope this is not too much information on what “I” would do. :-)
