It falls into place if the photo was from the other end of the runner. Then the braid is easier to see.

The table runner is from the book Tabletastic 2 Quilt Book that Watson said could not get in Canada. https://www.fatquartershop.com/tabletastic-2-quilt-book
Here are a couple other showing the other way https://www.pinterest.com/pin/272538214946763043/ and https://sewhappybysarah.com/2021/07/...-table-runner/
It looks like it is a combination of Staggered Flying Geese and French Braid. I found this image that might help but you would need to extend the sides for the three strip pieces.
I found at this post - Staggered Flying geese

I found that exact picture on pinterest and did some digging. The pattern is in a book called tabletastic 2. BUT I found this picture on a blog and I can now see the French braid pattern in it. Three strip set with the triangle on the end. Its amazing how just changing the angle of a picture and viola, the pattern appears. For me anyway. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the diagram. I love the Tabletastic books and the ruler he developed 'simple folded corners' is the best! This looks like a fun table runner!

You are welcome. But looking at it and playing around with it a bit, I believe that parts numbered 1 and 2 got transposed. I would think that the even numbers would be the strips and the odd numbers would be the solid HST or snowballed ends. So I played around a little with the diagram and changed those. I am thinking that for my edited diagram you would sew 2 & 3 together and then add it to 1. Then sew 4&5 together and add to the right side of unit just created.

    I hope this helps.

Watson ... I have visions of you with your head down, busily cutting and sewing and whipping one up, already!

Love this one and can see it done in so many different colours of scrapy-ness.
The one calling to me would be autumn colours ... and brown geese ... flying south for the winter!
Or a blue mix ... with white snow geese ... to go with today's extra cccccold!

But of course ... SO many different possibilities abound!
