When I first learned to sew in school, I used it. But now, no way.

What machine do you have? I have the CS6000I and mine does not work well at all.
I have a brother SE 350 sewing and machine embroidery machine.

I have a Janome 6600 and 1600p thay have thread cutters and knee lifts and I love them. My cutter is on the front by the tension dial.

I bought a stick on cutter. Really small and works great. I can put it anywhere I like it best. I think I bought one at JoAnns. Here is what it looks like:

I have never used it---my scissors are right there and I just grab them.

I cannot imagine going back to cutting threads. I too have a Janome and I use the knee lift and the cutter almost exclusively. I LOVE my machine's features.

Mine have never worked well, it seems like they are never sharp enough. I always end up recutting them with scissors.
